Advent Prayer 2023

The child is coming. The one who will change everything. (Refrain) 

Again, we need reminding, as the leaves fall,

And the temperature drops, 

The one we need is preparing once more. 

For a visitation in a most unusual form.

In the most perfect way. 

The child is coming. The one who will change everything.

The world near his birthplace is on fire,

On fire with intolerance, misunderstanding,

Where violence reigns supreme,

And the children are dying. 

They cry out for help. We cry out for help. 

The child is coming. The one who will change everything.

We pray for hope, for a king who will save us all.

Save us from ourselves, from our unnatural deaths,

And bring us to eternal life.

Through one more sacrifice, 

with love and surrender.

The child is coming and knows your needs,

He will heal where there was pain and brokenness. 

For He is the Peacemaker, the lamb, 

the shepherd, the King.
